Velvetcut has released a new version of their comeback album “The Great Chameleon” released in the spring. The album, which has undergone a chameleon-like transformation, includes two new songs (“Carnival Of Lust” and “Rabbit Holes”). The update also changes the song order of the album, tweaks the cover art, and removes one song from the album.
Velvetcut dives deep into the depths of the 90s grunge scene, putting the legacy of Generation X on a pedestal. Three songs on the album, originally written in the 90s, offer their own authentic breath of the golden age of flannel shirts. In addition, Velvetcut wanted to pay tribute to the legendary Finnish band Smack and made their own interpretation of their song ”Run Rabbit Run”. The song in question also ended up in an early Nirvana gig set. Velvetcut’s version of the song has been played frequently, especially on US radio stations.
“If a chameleon can change color, we have a duty to do the same with the album,” the band says of the reissue.
